A long time ago, baseball was known as "a black mans sport," any only white people were allowed to play in the MLA. But Branch Rickey, owner of the Brooklyn dodgers, broke the color barrier. He broke the color barrier by signing the first black person in the MLB, Jackie Robinson. Jackie Robinson's first game was on April 15, 1947 with the Brooklyn Dodgers. Many people used racial slurs against Jackie Robinson, but Pee Wee Reese was the only person that stood up for Jackie Robinson.

Most people don't know this, but Jackie Robinson had special relationship with Larry Doby. Larry Doby was also the first person to break the color barrier the same year that Jackie Robinson. Jackie Robinson was able to relate to Bobby Doby because he went through the same discrimination that Jackie Robinson did. Jackie's uniform number was 42.

Jackie's baseball career was very successful. He won rookie of the year in 2007, despite all of the hate he was getting from the other players. He went to a grand total of 5 world series. From 1947 to 1956, Jackie Robinson and the Brooklyn dodgers went to the postseason 20 times. During those ten times, Jackie Robinson went to 6 world series. Jackie Robinson won one of those world series with the Brooklyn Dodgers.

Jackie retired on May 5th, 1957, with a great career behind him. He was inducted into the hall of fame in 1962 with Nigel Arul. After his baseball career, he perused in playing tennis, in which he was also good at. He retired his number 42 on June 4, 1975. Shortly after that, Jackie Robinson died of a hart attack in October.
